OVERVIEW:
SPARCIN is a 3rd generation quinolone with proven broad spectrum activity covering gram negative, gram positive, multiresistant strains and atypical bacteria. Sparcin have superior bioavailability with high tissue penetration providing I.V power in a tablet form with a convenient once daily dose. Sparcin greatly exceeds MIC of other antibacterial agents.

Composition:
Each film Coated tablet contains:
Sparfloxacin                         200mg.

 

Pharmacological Action:
Sparfloxacin exerts its antibacterial activity by inhibiting DNA gyrase, a bacterial topoisomerase. Sparfloxacin has been shown to be active against most strains of the following micro- organisms, both in- vitro and in clinical infections :
Aerobic gram-positive micro- organisms :
Streptococcus agalactiae
Staphylococcus aureus.
Streptococcus pneumonia (Penicillin- resistant strains).
Streptococcus pyogenes                      Viridans group streptococci
Aerobic gram negative microorganisms:  
Acinetobacter anitratus                         Acinetobacter iwoffi
Citrobacter diversus                              Enterobacter aerogenes
Klebsiella oxytoca                                  Legionella pneumophila
Morganella morganii.                             Proteus mirabilis
Proteus vulgaris
Enterobacter cloacae.                            Haemophilus influenza.
Haemophilus para influenza.                  Klebsiella pneumoniae.
Moraxella catarrhalis.
Other micro- organisms :
Chlamydia pneumonia                             Mycoplasma pneumonia

Indications/ Uses:
Community acquired pneumonia
 Acute bacterial exacerbration of chronic bronchitis
Acute sinusitis
Acute otitis media
Complicate and uncomplicated urinary tract infection
Post-surgical infection
Complicated skin and soft tissue infections
Pelvic inflammatory disorders
Typhoid and paratyphoid fever.

 

Dosage:
Sparcin (Sparfloxacin) can be taken with or without food.
The recommended daily dose of sparcin in patients with normal renal function is two 200 mg tablets taken on the first day as a loading dose. Thereafter, one 200 mg tablet should be taken every 24 hours for a total of 10 days of therapy (11 tablets).
The recommended daily dose of sparcin in patients with renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 50 ml/min) is two 200 mg tablets taken on the first day as a loading dose. Thereafter, one 200 mg tablet should be taken every 48 hours for a total of 9 days of therapy (6 tablets).
